Description

Daniele’s dissertation explores how Black Italians and North African Italians represent and use food in literary and digital media texts to explore articulations of belonging, inclusion, and exclusion in contemporary Italy. Besides Italian food studies and postcolonial studies, Daniele’s research interests include Italian identity in transnational and diasporic contexts, language teaching and learning, and popular culture.

Biography

Daniele Laudadio is a Doctoral Candidate and Course Instructor in the Department of Italian Studies in the University of Toronto. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Linguistic, Literary and Translation Studies from Sapienza University of Rome and his Bachelor’s Degree in Intercultural and Linguistic Mediation from the same university. Daniele’s research interests include postcolonial studies, Italian identity in transnational and diasporic contexts, language teaching and learning, and popular culture. Daniele has a diversified experience in teaching language (ITA100Y, ITA250Y), cinema (ITA240Y), and literature courses (ITA197H) at different levels in the undergraduate program in the University of Toronto. He is also committed to fostering closer connections between academia and the broader local community of Italian background. He has been a coordinator (2018-2021) and contributor (2017-present) for the weekly cultural page of the newspaper Corriere Canadese.
